Throwback to Koi Fish and Geometric Times

Throwback to Koi Fish and Geometric Times

Watercolor was my first love...of painting, that is! I took a 5-year hiatus from painting because I was in school. Now that I'm finished, I am circling back and RE-starting my art business. Looking through old works, I found this painting, which sold several years ago. It's interesting...at the time, I was painting many images with geometric backgrounds. In this case, it was Koi fish!

Koi Fish and Geometric Patterns:

Koi fish have long been revered in various cultures for their symbolic significance, often representing perseverance, strength, and transformation. Contrasting the fluidity of the koi fish, the backdrop introduces a geometric element. The sharp lines, angles, and patterns create a visually striking contrast that enhances the composition.

I really love this piece. The choice of colors in this watercolor painting is equally enchanting. The koi fish, with their vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, pop against cool, calming blues and greens. This interplay of warm and cool tones creates a mesmerizing visual tension, drawing the viewer's eye to the heart of the painting—the koi fish—and their journey through the geometric maze.

As we contemplate this exquisite piece of art, we are reminded of the delicate dance between nature and structure in our lives. Like the koi fish navigating their geometric path, we, too, find ourselves in a world of contrasts, seeking harmony amidst chaos. This painting encapsulates the essence of balance, the beauty in contradictions, and the serenity that can be found when we embrace both the fluid and the structured aspects of our existence.
